Uganda Hand PlantingDr. Lisa,

Sorry for the late reply. I had an accident that nearly broke my collar bone. Nice to hear that you came to Uganda. I hope you got a great experience. Everyone using the maize hand planter needs a bit of training before they can effectively use it. The few women I have worked (see attachment for one mother) with did just like men and after three days of using the planter they tend to perform well. They have also enjoyed the benefit arising from no back pain and
labor saving among other benefits.
Thank you,
Lawrence Aula

Uganda hand planter used for fertilizer N application Uganda hand planter used for fertilizer N application June 11, 2015

From Lawrence Aula:  Attached are pictures of a farmer (Mr. Odong Nixon of Pader district, Uganda)using the GreenSeeder (GS) to apply urea to maize (though at a stage above knee height). It worked so well for him that he is determined to increase his maize production capability next season.   He was very excited at the lack of no back pain associated with the use of GS. Back pain is particularly common with the use of soda top (lid) that requires one to bend down to place the fertilizer to the hole followed by covering.   Thank you,
